Brandon Stanton: Anonymity is “The Scourge” of the Internet

Brandon Stanton (or you’ll be calling him ‘Brain-Dead’ Stanton after watching this video) is a 29-year-old self-taught photographer, who started the popular “Humans of New York” blog in 2010. At around 3:40 in this clip, he is essentially calling for the removal of your rights to internet anonymity.

“I only keep the conversation on Facebook, because I think anonymity is the scourge of the internet. And people defend it like ‘Oh I need to be protected to have my thoughts’. You live in America. Like…If you live in Iran, and you need to, you know, hide your identity I understand that. But if your using anonymity in America, most of the time it’s to say something nasty on the internet.”
