Insular U.S. Politicians who continually tout that the United States is the best country on Earth in everything like it’s still 1950, and that Muslim nations are full of socially and technologically backward savages need to take a look at this listing. Of the worlds top 10 rated airlines, five in total are based in predominately Muslim countries (Emirates, Qatar Airways, Etihad Airways, Garuda Indonesia, Turkish Airlines) and four others are based in East Asia (Singapore Airlines, Nippon Airways, Asiana Airlines, Cathay Pacific Airways). Australia’s Qantas was the only western country to have an airline rated in the Top 10, barely making the cut at 10th place.

Emirates has taken out the prize for world’s best airline this year, as well as the ninth prize for having the best in-flight entertainment.

The airline beat two-time winner Qatar Airways at the 2013 World Airline Awards presented by Skytrax, the independent airline quality-rating agency.

It also won Best Middle East Airline.

The awards polled over 18 million business and leisure airline passengers from more than 160 countries.

The airline took home the awards for Best Premium Economy Class, Best Premium Economy Class Seat and Best Premium Economy Class Onboard Catering for its Premium Economy cabin on board its Boeing 777-300 fleet.

Air New Zealand took home honours from for Best Premium Economy Class, Best Premium Economy Class Seat and Best Premium Economy Class Onboard Catering for its Premium Economy cabin on board its Boeing 777-300 fleet.
